Synergies as a tool for Knowledge Valorisation in Widening Countries

Synergies are a central element of the widerAdvance Facility. They enable Horizon Europe beneficiaries to connect their research results to follow-up investment opportunities, complementary EU programmes, regional policies and innovation ecosystems - ultimately ensuring the excellent research delivers long-term impact in widening countries and Outermost Regions.

What are Synergies?

Synergies are understood as the strategic combination of different funding sources, policies and support instruments in order to enhance the dissemination, exploitation and valorisation of research results.

Within WiderAdvance, synergies focus on:

- connecting results of EU-funded projects with follow-up funding and investments,

- aligning project outcomes with regional, national and European policy priorities,

- strengthening innovation ecosystems and institutional capacities in Widening countries and Outermost Regions.

- analyse existing regional D&E policies and support measures,

- identify strengths, gaps and areas for improvement,

- provide evidence-based recommendations for policy development.
